Maceo ParkerMACEO PARKER One of the Founding Fathers of Funk. Best known as band leader and lead sax for James Brown, Maceo is now tearing it up live with his own band, leaving the crowd breathless from his non-stop dance party.

A sweet balance of jazz, funk, Afro-Cubano and dance. This 10-man NY combo features muscular horn and rhythm sections. The music is modern while drawing inspiration from the great masters of jazz.
BO DIDDLEY
There are few artists who truly merit "legendary" status. Without a doubt, Bo Diddley is one of them. In the span of his 40-year-old career he has performed for 3 Presidents, been immortalized on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and this year received the Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award.

LOU DONALDSON QUARTET
A Charlie Parker-inspired bebopper who began his recording career in the company of Thelonious Monk, Milt Jackson and Art Blakey. Lou Donaldson currently spends 8 months of the year touring (mostly in Europe). This is a rare opportunity to catch one of most highly regarded Alto Saxophonist of our time.
THE ATOMIC FIREBALLS
Call it Jump Blues or call it Swing, all will agree, it will make you scream to the heavens and make the Almighty answer with a, "Bop Doo Day!" These Detroit natives are about to break out nationally with the release of their major label debut CD this fall.
OLU DARA
New Orleans jazz runs headlong into Mississippi delta blues, as Olu relates any number of autobiographical tales over a gumbo of Caribbean and African rhythms. Playing both coronet and guitar, his recent CD has been called genius.
MICHAEL RAY & THE COSMIC CREW
Sun Ra alumnus Michael Ray takes jazz to the next dimension. His jazz-funk-of-the-future is multicultural and polyrythmic - jazz to dance to. Michael has recently performed with Phish, MMW among others who are true fans of his work.
POIGNANT PLECOSTOMUS
"The MC5 covering Sun Ra," is just one of the ways to describe this group. There are also comparisons to the Mahavishnu Orchestra, whose instrument line-up PP mirrors.
RICK ROE QUARTET
Quickly becoming one of the most respected pianist on the Detroit/Ann Arbor scene. Achieving national prominence in in 1993 as a semifinalist in the Thelonious Monk Competition and in 1994 by winning the Great American Jazz Competition.
NEW ORLEANS KLEZMER ALL-STARS
"The Klezmer All-stars absorb and transform other cultural styles into their own sound. A playful place where schmaltz meets funk, old violin riffs are sampled, and a dancing crowd of bohemians follow with passion". - NPR
PAUL deLAY
Fronting a monster band, some refer to him as the world's greatest harmonica player. But this humble harp giant says he's just delivering fresh, funky and original blues. Don't be fooled by others; Paul is the real deal.
ROSIE LEDET- THE ZYDECO SWEETHART
Rosie has quickly become the act to watch on the Zydeco circuit. The New York Times says "If The Allman Brothers went Zydeco they would probably sound like Rosie".
ROOT DOCTOR
Hailing from the capital city, Root Doctor are one of Michigan's premier blues bands. Tearing up the Midwest club circuit, they have remained true to the traditions of urban electric-blues.
ROBERT JONES
Widely known as host of WDET's Blues From The Lowlands, Robert is an acomplished blues guitarist in his own right. Robert often takes the storytelling approach to his songs and leaves his audience laughing as hard as they are singing along. Back to top of page
